Hello listener, this is Drew McKenzie. Thank you for checking out my website, dailyjamrunner.com. Up to now, I have used this website as a place to publish blog-style writings on my running and life.
For a couple months now, I have thought about the idea of recording conversations with my fellow runners here in Santa Barbara. The purpose is two-fold:
- Since my wife recently gave birth to our first son, Basil, my life is much busier. So, I have less time to go on big running adventures with my friends, which gives me a bit of FOMO. My solution is to wrangle my friends together and get them to talk about said adventures. This way I can hear their fun stories. And its an excuse to hangout with my friends.
- I think other local Santa Barbara runners would find these stories fascinating. If I enjoy hearing these stories, I’m sure other people would too, especially if they have a connection to the story-teller. In this format, I can get these adventurers to talk more deeply about their experiences. We can focus on their stories for an hour or more and just let the conversation flow.
This first episode is a conversation with my two good friends Will Radis and Jon Sutherland. They both ran the Born to Run 100 mile race in 2025. And they have some good stories to share…

Note: If you’re using a phone, you should be able to hit play on the audio recording and still be able to use other apps while the audio plays. You can also download the audio file to your device.
